Move those Hips!

Last night, Donna and I went to this event at Merc Bar sponsored by Glamour Magazine and Caress. The red room in the back of Merc Bar was really crowded and everyone was having a blast. I found out about this event through my friend Kelsi. Thanks Kelsi for inviting me:) We had been there about half an hour when the music blasts and this lady in a hot pink and gold outfit comes out belly dancing. Let me just say one thing- if only I could move like her! She got the crowd going. She was waving these big gold sheets and had sparklers.

Before we knew it she was motioning someone to dance with her and who was that lucky girl who got to shake her bootie....

Donna!!!

Donna was awesome. She's got the moves:) Me on the otherhand, I need practice or a lot more to drink. I couldn't keep my upper body still and just move my hips. I kept cracking up.

Then she pulled one of the few guys from the massive crowd of women (I think I saw 3 guys at the whole event, excuding the waiters). This guy didn't really get into the hip action but he was a nice prop for her to move and dip around!

Donna and I are definitely gathering a group of girls and taking lessons. The belly dancer's name is Anna Pipoyan and she is amazing. She has a website, if anyone else is interested in learning how to belly dance. www.AnnaPipoyan.com We will definitely update you on our belly dancing progress once we have our first lesson.

Central Park in the Fall

My friend Kelsi and I took a little stroll through Central Park from the Eastside to the Westside yesterday. We walked up over Cedar Hill and found this really pretty tree that I had to take pictures of. The sun was hitting it just right. In this spot in Central Park, you forget you are in the hustle and bustle of NYC. Here you cannot see any buildings or cityscape. It is really very peaceful. It was the perfect fall Sunday afternoon.

My new contemplation spot.

So I wore my Darcy's out...

Last Friday night, I went out with my room mate and some of her friends. I decided to wear my Darcy's in caramel. They are the newest Farylrobin shoes I own and love!! They make an outfit so much fun. I wore them with these black lace tights and little black knit mini dress with chunky gold necklaces to match the caramel leather and the metallic rand around the toe of the boot. I put a lot of thought into this outfit and was feeling pretty good...

There was about 10 of us going out to dinner at Tamarind on 22nd Street. After a lot of food and wine, we headed down to Vig Bar on Spring and Elizabeth. Everyone that has gone out with me knows I cannot drink red wine! For some reason it has horrible effects on my mood. After two glasses at dinner, I was feeling kinda grumpy. Anyhow, we left Tamarind and headed for Vig Bar. It was raining a little and to make things worse, it was so crowded that we had to wait in line to get in. The line wasn't long at all, but at that point, the red wine had brought out "bitch" Laura. I had no patience standing there waiting. I am standing there with my arms crossed, feeling the rain hit my head wishing I could just hop the 6 train home. I start listening to these guys behind me say, "I can't believe we have to wait to get in. Look at the girl in front of us, (he's referring to me) she looks pretty damn cool with those boots on and even she is waiting in line." Well that comment made me smile a little. So even if I am in a horrble mood, I can still look pretty cool in my farylrobins. That made my night!

Sweet Farm...Must Try

On my daily walk to and from Greenpoint Brooklyn to the L train in Williamsburg, I noticed a new bakery (or it may have already been there and I just never noticed before) called Sweet Farm. I first saw it months ago and never really had an urge to go in, which is shocking because I'm a total sweets kinda gal. I was shopping for wine at the local wine shop, UVA and overheard the sales associate talk about Sweet Farm cookies. She said it was the BEST cookie she had ever had...EVER. Ok so now I was curious.

My boyfriend and I went in and purchased 1 chocolate chip cookie, 1 Dirt Pudding, and 1 Pumpkin Pie. First of all the Dirt Pudding is AMAZING. If you like that hint of banana/vanilla pudding flavor throw in some oreo cookies...you'll love this. The pumpkin pie was also very good. The chocolate chip cookie--I have to say it is definitely one of the best cookies I've had. This is a great cookie to share. It sort of satisfies all tastes and preferences. Its crunchy, but chewy and moist, and chocolate chip with every bite. They use mini chocolate chips!

Needless to say I've been back a few times already. Last night for Halloween we got the Pumpkin Pie, Cheesecake, and of course a cookie. So this morning, as I got a free Starbucks Double Shot Esspress0 & Cream drink from the lovely Starbucks marketing team parked outside our Farylrobin office on Broadway and Houston, I decided I'd wash down the leftovers of my Sweet Farm Cheesecake.

I definitely recommend trying this place. Its worth the short trip just one stop off the L train from 1st Ave. Sweet Farm. 158 Bedford Ave. Brooklyn, NY 11211. Phone 718.384.0158.
